For some random reason, I googled Barry Wallace (one of the youth players starting for QPR) as I wondered where his career might have gone from here, turns out he left QPR in 1980 to play for Tulsa Roughnecks in the North American Outdoor Soccer League, spending a good deal of his 20 year career playing 5/6-A-Side in the North American Indoor Soccer League. Turns out there were quite a few English lads playing out there at the time, Andrew Chapman who started at Arsenal being one of them. Unfortunately Barry died in 2006 after suffering from cancer, but had a wife and kids in Kansas and seems to have lived a good life according to wikipedia.

I remember on that Saturday my neighbour bet me 50p that United wouldn't beat Arsenal. I collected my winnings the following morning 😎 Big Ron moved Norman Whiteside into midfield for this game and it really worked for United that season

Man Utd tried to sign loads of forward players in Fergies early days,and they wouldn't come.

Alex Ferguson offered Paul McGrath £80,000 to permanently retire from football but didn't tell McGrath that Liverpool were looking to sign him. Ferguson even told Liverpool that the Irishman was not for sale. Hence Liverpool took their interest elsewhere. Fortunately Ron Atkinson signed McGrath for Aston Villa, moved him into the Atkinson family home and gave McGrath some stability to help deal with his demons. Villa's physio tailored his rehabilitation and non-intensive training regime to the player to help aid McGrath's knee problems. McGrath went on to play some of his best football for club and country. Disgraceful behaviour by Alex Ferguson. He could have robbed both the fans and the player of those golden years
